The Indiana Hoosiers embark on the 2010 campaign with a lot of unanswered questions, but perhaps the biggest is how the team will fare against a schedule that is equal parts nobody and BMOC.
The Hoosiers' non-conference slate features games against Division I-AA Towson, football independent Akron, Sun Belt minnow Arkansas State, and the Mid-American Conference's Akron Zips. Meanwhile, the Big Ten slate skips Minnesota and Michigan State, and loses a home game, as the Hoosiers' scheduled hosting of Penn State will take place in Landover, MD.
Realistically speaking, Indiana will have to go 4-0 in the non-conference schedule to make a bowl game. Fortunately, this is within reach --- the only potential stumbling block appears to be against Western Kentucky on the road, but IU will come into that game after an early bye week and two weeks to correct whatever mistakes were made against Towson.
If the Hoosiers can go undefeated outside of conference, they need to just go 3-5 to ensure themselves of a bowl berth. The only games that appear unwinnable on the conference slate are road games at Ohio State and Wisconsin. So can IU go 3-3 against Michigan, Northwestern, Iowa, @Purdue, @Illinois, and vs Penn State?
