Get well soon, A.J.

a.j. moyeHe was the “other” recruit in 2000, the one from the Atlanta area.

There was no doubt as to his skills - he was Mr. Basketball in his home state of Georgia as a high school senior – yet his name won’t be found near the top of the all-time statistical leaders for the Indiana Hoosiers.

Credit where credit is due: stadium music improved

A month ago, whoever decides the music playlist at Memorial Stadium did not exactly wrap themselves in glory.

Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha . . . these are not artists that should be heard at a Big Ten football game. The near-sellout crowd at the Michigan game didn’t come to hear The Disney Channel or some odious “singer” babbling about her drinking exploits.

Well, IUSportcom spoke.

(OK, more like “requested with gentle humor”)

Gameday experience still a work in progress

It’s a close game at Memorial Stadium.

Ben Chappell is in the process of passing for 480 yards on the day, and Michigan is legitimately vulnerable in a back-and-forth contest. During a break in the action, a sellout crowd is all set to be fired up.

So the stadium PA people decide to play . . . a Miley Cyrus song.

Pffffffft.

Yeah, that’s EXACTLY how you get your home football crowd going. Play that Disney Channel stuff, loud and proud.

A Complete Lack of Imagination

The U.S. Soccer Federation announced Monday that coach Bob Bradley’s contract has been renewed for four more years.

A good coach, a good man. Now set up to be run out of town on a rail in 2014, since the roster of two-term World Cup coaches includes few successes. Sven-Goran Erikksson was England's darling after 2002.

Bruce Arena was the same in the U.S. in 2002. Marcello Lippi took Italy to the title in 2006.
