Recruiting one-and-dones not ideal way to championships

Nobody likes trying to find similarities between their school and a rival. There’s not a student sitting in their dorm room right now thinking how the Hoosiers and the Boilermakers are alike.

It’s about as much fun as getting a 400-level chemistry test returned after devoting a whole 45 minutes to studying. So when asked to find similarities between the basketball programs of Indiana University and the University of Kentucky, most students are running for their chemistry books.

But like it or not, the leaders of each program share similarities.

trophyHats off to anyone who can name a more exciting MLB season than 2010. Perfect games, near perfect games, no hitters, the debut of Washington pitcher Stephen Strasburg, and Dallas Braden’s grandma calling out A-Rod make this season one for the books.

Realignment holds promise for Hoosiers

Back in December, when Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany first talked about possible expansion, he said the Big Ten would explore expansion within the next “12-18” months.

Well, a short nine months later, here we are: 12 teams, two divisions, and a conference championship game scheduled for 2011. More expansion is sure to come, but for now let’s just take some time to take everything in.
