September 10, 2010 marks the 10th Anniversary of Indiana University's firing of Bob Knight. The events of that day, and the weeks surrounding it, may well represent a fulcrum point in the history of Indiana University athletics. IUSportCom will be bringing you special retrospective coverage throughout today and the weekend, as we look back at the firing, its precursors, and its aftermath. Our first episode features IUSportCom Editor-In-Chief Galen Clavio in a podcast conversation with David Uchiyama, a writer for the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

The student protests in the wake of Bob Knight's firing were a wild affair, with the crowd marching all over the campus. As the evening turned into night, some crazy things started happening, and none was crazier than when a group of students ripped one of the stone dolphins out of Showalter Fountain. Here, in some rare WIUS archival footage, station reporter Matt Ridings scores an interview with one of the gentlemen carrying the dolphins up Fee Lane towards its final destination.

There were some tense moments during the Knight protests --- none moreso than around 8:30 that night, when about 3,000 students came down Indiana Avenue and started filing into the Kirkwood corridor. The police decided that they wouldn't be going any further than Dunn Street. Here, Adam Minnick and others host in the studio, while Galen Clavio reports from Kirkwood, as we continue to bring you WIUS archival footage right here on IUSportCom.
